Dr. Wilson graduated from Harvard College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He was elected graduating Class Marshall in 1965. Shortly after graduation from Harvard, he worked in organ transplantation research with Dr. Francis Moore, Chief of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Nobel Prize winner Dr. Joseph Murray. He received his Doctorate of Medicine at State University of New York Medical School, Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, then went on to specialize in Internal Medicine and Invasive Cardiology.
Ric Wilson and his brothers, Lou and Carlos, a family of multi-instrumentalists born in Panama, Central America and raised in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, founded MANDRILL in the 1970’s.
Considered one of the world’s greatest musical treasures, they pioneered the Funk, Rock, Latin, Soul and Jazz fusion movement of the time and numerous contemporary artists continue to sample their grooves. Still touring the U.S. and internationally, their most recent project, MANDRILL Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival (DVD/CD), has received worldwide critical acclaim.
